Privacy policy.
This policy covers markethq.ai and the MarketHQ product: developer market intelligence that monitors public developer-community and web mentions of the brand, competitor, and keyword terms you choose to track, and turns them into evidence-backed answers, gap analysis, and action plans. It explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Manoj Surya, operating as MarketHQ ("MarketHQ", "we") is the data controller for the personal data described here.
Information you give us
- Contact. If you email us, we store the email address and any details you submit (e.g. product URL, role, what you're trying to accomplish) and the time you sent them.
- Account data. When you create an account, we store your email address, name (if provided), and sign-in method. If you sign in with Google, we receive the basic profile Google shares for authentication — not your Google data beyond that.
- Workspace data. The brand, competitor, and keyword terms you choose to track, the questions you ask in chat, and any workspace settings you configure.
- Billing data. If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payments processor collects your payment details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We keep a record of your subscription status, plan, and billing history so we can manage your account.
Information we collect automatically
Our hosting and infrastructure providers keep standard server logs (request timestamps, IP addresses, and similar technical data) for security and reliability, the way any web host does. We use product analytics (PostHog) and Google Analytics to understand how the site and product are used — page views, feature usage, and similar behavior. If you create an account, your email address is attached to your analytics record so we can connect your activity to your account.
PostHog doesn't use cookies for this: it keeps no persistent identifier at all, so it needs no consent from you. Google Analytics does use cookies, so if you're visiting from the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland, it stays off by default until you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit — reject it, or don't decide, and no Google Analytics cookies are set. Everywhere else, Google Analytics runs by default; you can still block it with your browser's cookie controls or a tracking blocker, and the product works either way. Public developer-community mentions
The core of MarketHQ is monitoring content that is already public on sources like Hacker News, GitHub, Reddit, Stack Overflow, and similar communities and search results — for the terms you track, not for you personally. We don't access private messages, private repositories, or anything behind a login that isn't yours. Mentions we collect may include public usernames or handles attached to that public content; we process them only to deliver the monitoring and analysis you've asked for, not to build profiles on individuals.
How we use your information
- To provide, maintain, and improve the product.
- To answer your questions in chat, generate gap analysis and action plans, and run the monitoring you've set up.
- To send account, billing, and product emails — sign-in links, trial and billing notices, and updates about MarketHQ. You can opt out of non-essential product updates at any time; we'll still send emails required to run your account, like sign-in links and billing notices.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal data. We share it only with the service providers that make MarketHQ work, and only to the extent needed to provide the product: hosting and infrastructure; our payments processor for billing; email delivery for account and product emails; our customer-relationship tool, to keep in touch about your account and MarketHQ updates; analytics, as described above; the data providers we use to reach public sources on our behalf; and the AI providers that power the product's analysis. Those AI providers include OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Perplexity, and DeepSeek — the terms you track, the public content we collect for them, and the questions you ask in chat are sent to these providers to produce your results, which means some of that processing happens outside your country. Providers are bound to use your data only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of MarketHQ or others.
Data retention
We keep account and workspace data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward in case you return or as needed for legal, billing, or security reasons. Contact emails are kept until you ask us to remove them.
Your choices
You can access, correct, export, or delete the personal data we hold about you by emailing manoj@markethq.ai. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws like the GDPR or CCPA — reach out and we'll help.
Children
MarketHQ is a business tool and isn't directed at children. We don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. We'll post the revised version here with a new effective date, and for material changes we'll make a reasonable effort to notify active accounts by email before they take effect. See our terms of service for the rules of using MarketHQ.
