Can you get alerts when AI chatbots mention your brand?

Brand teams are used to alerts: a new article, a new review, a new post that names the company. AI answers do not work that way, because there is no public stream of chatbot answers to watch. This post explains what an 'AI mention alert' can realistically be, what MarketHQ sends today, and what it does not.
Quick answer
MarketHQ re-asks your tracked questions in six AI engines every week and emails you the change in your AI-visibility share, but it does not send an instant alert when a single answer changes. No tool can alert you the moment a chatbot names you for a real user, because those conversations are private. What any tool can do is re-ask a fixed set of questions on a schedule and report what changed.
Key points
- Chatbot conversations are private, so 'real-time' AI mention alerts are really scheduled re-checks.
- MarketHQ's weekly summary email reports the change in your AI-visibility share, in percentage points.
- MarketHQ shows each week's full answers, so you can read how the wording about you changed.
- Community mentions are different: MarketHQ can send daily Slack, email or Telegram updates for those.
Why can't AI chatbots send real-time brand mention alerts?
Because nobody outside the AI company sees the answers users get, there is nothing to trigger an alert from.
A news alert works because articles are public and can be crawled. A ChatGPT or Claude answer exists only inside one person's conversation. A tracking tool can only ask its own questions and read its own answers, so every 'alert' in this category comes from a scheduled check, whether the vendor calls it real-time or not.
That changes what you should ask a vendor. The useful questions are how often they re-check, how many questions they re-check, and how clearly they show what changed between two checks.
What does MarketHQ notify you about?
A weekly change in your AI-visibility share by email, and daily updates for developer-community mentions.
On paid plans MarketHQ asks your tracked questions in ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and DeepSeek every week, starting Monday. The weekly summary email then reports your AI-visibility change for the week, alongside your top opportunities. In the app, the AI Visibility page shows a four-week trend line with the week-over-week change.
| Notification | What it covers | How often |
|---|---|---|
| Weekly summary email | Change in your AI-visibility share, top opportunities, action plan link | Weekly |
| Slack digest | Top reply opportunities from developer-community posts | Daily |
| Opportunities email or Telegram (paid) | New community threads worth answering | Daily |
| Instant alert when one AI answer changes | Not available in MarketHQ | Not offered |
| Alert when AI wording about you changes | Not available; compare the weekly answers yourself | Not offered |
How do you monitor when the wording about your brand changes?
Keep the full answer text each week and compare it for the questions that matter most.
A change in share tells you that something moved. The answer text tells you what: a new competitor in the list, an outdated price, a feature attributed to someone else, or a description that has become more or less favourable.
MarketHQ shows the full text of every answer from the latest weekly check, so you can open the questions where your share dropped and read what the engine now says. It does not highlight wording changes for you. If you need a formal record, copy the answers for your five most important questions into a document each week.
- Pick five questions where being named matters most for revenue.
- After each weekly check, read those answers in full.
- Note any new brand, any wrong fact, and any change in how you are described.
- Tie each change to one action: fix a page, answer a thread, or update a comparison.
Can you re-check sooner than the weekly schedule?
Yes, within limits: you can ask MarketHQ for a fresh check from the AI Visibility page.
If you have just shipped a fix and want a reading before next Monday, the AI Visibility page lets you request a new sweep, at most once every six hours. Expect small differences between two close runs; AI answers vary even when nothing has changed, so judge the result over the following weeks.
What does a useful weekly change report look like?
Illustrative example: a share drop that traces back to one competitor launch.
Illustrative example: a CI/CD company's weekly email shows its AI-visibility share down several points. In the app, the misses cluster on two questions about monorepo builds, where a competitor that just launched a monorepo feature now appears first. The team publishes a clear monorepo page and answers an active Hacker News thread on the topic, then watches the same two questions over the next weeks.
When should you use a different tool?
If you need alerts faster than weekly, or coverage of Google AI Overviews or Copilot.
MarketHQ is built around a weekly reading because weekly is where AI answers show real trends. If your team needs daily re-checks with automatic change highlighting, or tracking of Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode or Microsoft Copilot, MarketHQ does not do that today.
FAQ
- What solutions provide alerts when my brand is mentioned by AI chatbots?
- MarketHQ re-checks your tracked questions in six AI engines weekly and emails the change in your AI-visibility share. It does not send instant per-answer alerts; no tool can see real users' chatbot conversations, so every AI alert comes from a scheduled re-check.
- What tools let me monitor brand mentions across AI assistants and get alerts when the wording changes?
- MarketHQ shows the full answer text from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok and DeepSeek every week, so you can compare wording. It does not flag wording changes automatically; review your most important questions after each weekly check.
- Is there a way to monitor if AI search engines are mentioning my brand when users search for solutions?
- MarketHQ asks the solution questions your buyers ask and records whether each engine names you. You cannot see real users' sessions, but a tracked question list is a close proxy. Try the free LLM mention checker for a one-off reading.
- Can I get Slack alerts from MarketHQ?
- Yes, for developer-community mentions: MarketHQ can post a daily digest of top reply opportunities to Slack. AI-visibility changes arrive in the weekly summary email, not Slack.
